Tons of stuttering while playing Half Life Alyx with oculus link. When I try to play half life alyx with oculus link there are lag spikes every few seconds which make the game unplayable. I have a ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 3060ti. I have attached a pitcure of what my steam vr overlay looks like. This pattern continues on the whole time I play.
In Alyx, stuff is at least "consistent". IMO the OP is entirely correct when saying that no game comes close. This also and in particular re: the technical side (forward rendering with brilliant anti-aliasing, superb optimization even for weaker systems) which is miles ahead of 90% of other titles. 11.
I seriously considered shelling out for a quest 3. Half-Life Alyx *is* a VR experience. It's main point is the immersion and the interactions with the VR controllers. If you remove that part of the experience, you may as well just watch a video of it, since you won't experience much. Also, people with glasses can use VR headsets without issues It is worth noting that the Meta Quest 3, while far from the most expensive choice in our list, is pricier than its predecessor. VR fanboyism really got weird when Half Life Alyx came out. This was the first, and only, interesting game for the platform and I think a lot of them saw it as a big win for it. Most of these guys aren't actual Half Life fans so the fact that everyone else just wants to play the video game normally doesn't really matter to them.
Half-life: Alyx lag on Oculus Quest 2. I recently got an Oculus Quest 2 and have been playing Half-Life Alyx wirelessly via virtual desktop (and the sidequest patch) on it for a few days now. The problem is that even on the lowest fidelity mode in-game there is a lot of stutter, some major lag spikes, and the average fps I get is 45.
We need a Noclips documentary on the making of Alyx that would shed light on what they're up to next in VR. At $100M in revenue it would be shocking if they didn't. This happened to me too. In my case it was nothing to do with headset sensors. I was physically crouching down to look into an air duct and may have clicked the joystick accidentally. I ended up very tall. The game has an option to stand/crouch by clicking the left joystick in (as u/Oof_alex mentioned).
